About Us

The Blue Cross Ghana, a Christian NGO engaged the reduction of alcohol and other substances harm in Ghana through education on prevention, advocacy for policies to stem the tide and care through counselling & rehabilitation. It is affiliated to the International Blue Cross based in Switzerland. The Organisation has done a lot since its establishment in Ghana in 1906 in the field of prevention, advocacy and care regarding alcohol and other drug related harm. It has educated the Ghanaian public on the dangerous effects of alcohol and other substances abuse through floats, seminars, conferences, adverts and other campaigns. It has also helped out several people from the menace through its counselling and rehabilitation effort.

THE VISION OF THE ORGANISATION: The vision of the Organisation is: “To ensure decent and dignified lifestyles among all persons in Ghana with special emphasis on the younger generation”.

THE MISSION OF THE ORGANISATION: The mission of the Organisation is: “To work towards preventing and rescuing people from the destructive effects of alcohol and other substances related harm”, through:

  1. Education on Prevention
  2. Advocacy for Policies to stem the tide
  3. Counselling and Rehabilitation
  4. Life-skills Training and Integration (LTI)

The Governance System

The National conference

The Blue Cross Ghana is organized from Local Branches, through Districts and Presbyteries to the National Level. The National Conference which is the highest decision-making body of the Organisation is the gathering of representatives from various levels that meet to discuss important issues, share ideas and approve policies as well as operational and financial reports of the Board.

The Board

The Board is made up of seven (7) members, elected or appointed to oversee the affairs of the Organisation, making strategic decisions and ensuring its overall direction and governance.

The Management

The Management Team is responsible for implementing the decisions made by the Board and overseeing the day-to-day operations of an Organisation, including managing staff, resources, and projects. The management team of the Organisation consist of:

  1. The Chief Executive Officer. 
  2. The Head of Finance and Administration. 
  3. The Head of Planning and Projects 
  4. The Head of Operations 
  5. The Head of Marketing and Communication 
The membership

Membership is a collective group of individuals of the Organisation often with shared interests or goals, and may have voting rights, benefits, or responsibilities within the Organisation and usually organized at the Local, District and Presbytery.
